Weeknote 23

Starting Vibe club, Transparency, Resilience and some interesting things.

Weeknote 23
It's the vibe horse

This hasn't been the best week. Sometimes things just feel off, with me, with the world. This was one of those weeks. I've been wondering about hope, what brings hope and what do people actually hope for? That doesn't mean this week was all bad, there were some really good bits. Writing it down helps me to remember those good bits.

What I did

I mentioned last week that we'd had an interview for a piece of work, well we didn't get it. It was for some mapping work, for which we are very well equipped (techniques, experience, tools) and enthused. The feedback we got was that the other provider "fit the methodology and offered better value for money in line with the procurement criteria. " This is why I don't go for tenders very often and will even less often win them - I pitch at what I think will work, not at what I think will win.

Had a session with SOS - we are helping them develop some of the infrastructure around the RACE Report.

Racial Action for the Climate Emergency is working with organisations to drive transparency that will create the impetus to go further and faster on diversity and inclusion.

That ticks all my boxes, pleased to be getting into this one. The session was a discovery session, just getting structured insights to help us build a roadmap.

Had an initiation session for the Organisational Resilience work with the evaluators. Was good to chat through what would success look like. Still thinking this through but I'm looking to answer these questions

  • does it help organisations be more resilient? - to anticipate, prepare, respond adapt?
  • does it create collaborative action in a system?
  • what are the enabling (or disabling) conditions for these?

One of the things we are looking at is how we can imagine a more resilient system and how do we get there. Think 3 horizons but for resilience.

Did some more updates on The List in response to some testing. Think it's about ready for Launch next month. Will do some stress testing and final checks, but think we are there. It's been a lot of work, but I wanted to do it justice, I hope I have.

Had a catch up with Doug and he's jumped aboard and my random DM of

Would anyone be interested in vibe code club(name to be determined) where we gather (in person like Newcastle or something) and just vibe code stuff, stress test capabilities, make some cool stuff?

Doug said yes, and so we've started putting something together (I appreciate that Doug is just willing to both go with stuff and also actually put it into action - thanks Doug that was a pick me up this week). We plan to do one every month, see what happens. No expectations, no big community building goals, just try stuff out. If you're interested, there's a rally poll on dates and a luma if you're just interested at some point and want to be kept up to date.

Vibe Club (meetup) · Luma
Join Doug Belshaw and Tom Watson for a hands-on, collaborative vibe coding session. Vibe coding is a new approach using AI to move ideas into reality. Just…

And if you're wondering what kind of vibe we are going for, Doug asked me this, I sent him this - any excuse...
